Overview of methods of administration of essential oils: cutaneous, inhalation, olfaction, oral, sublingual, rectal, vaginal...

Essential definitions: Aromatherapy, Aroma Chology, essential oil, aromatic extract, chemotype, hydrolat, hybrid etc.

Afternoon: Essential oil fundamentals

Where, why and how essential oils are produced in the plant

The influence of botanic identification, origin, harvest and extraction methods on composition and quality of essential oils

Overview of essential oil chemistry

Overview of aromatic pharmacology

Criteria for quality, safety, handling and storage.

Introduction: Aromatherapy to help the sick person. The terrain concept.

Study of some essential oils that are indispensable for beginning to work in aromatherapy (I):

  • Lavandula officinalis
  • Rosmarinus officinalis 1,8-cineole and bornylacetate/verbenone chemotypes
  • Matricaria recutita
  • Chamaemelum nobile

Concepts of psycho-neuro-endocrinology: the bipolarity of the patient and his treatment with essential oils.

Concepts of imbalance in the patient: from inflammation to sclerosis and treatment with essential oils.

The three dimensions of man: physical, emotional and mental and their relationship with essential oils.

Study of some essential oils that are indispensable for beginning to work in aromatherapy (II):

  • Mentha x piperita
  • Cupressus sempervirens

Treatment of intestinal pathologies, diarrhoea, constipation, colitis, with brief introduction to:

  • Cinnamomum zeylanicum bark
  • Eugenia caryophyllata bud

Treatment of parasitic infections with brief introduction to:

Treatment of hepatic inflammation with brief introduction to:

  • Daucus carota

Drainage and detoxification, study of essential oils:

  • Levisticum officinalis
  • Juniperus communis berry

Treatment of autoimmune diseases (II)

Afternoon: The central nervous system, the centre of command at the service of self

Physiopathology of nervous system diseases

Study of some citrus essential oils:

  • Citrus reticulata
  • Citrus aurantium var amara flower
  • Citrus aurantium var. amara. leaf

Treatment of depression

Treatment of stress and anxiety with brief introduction to:

  • Melissa officinalis
  • Cananga odorata

Treatment of insomnia

DAY FIVE with Dr Jean-Jacques Dewitte (interpreted by RH) and Alain Durante

Morning

Harvesting of Lavandula angustifolia + Observation of the FLORIHANA distillation method "Flash detente"
- the distillation technique and method to obtain various products
- how to obtain the hydrolates, rich in essential oils
- how to obtain the maximum yield of an essential oil

Afternoon: Synthesis of the class and application

Interactive study of some clinical cases with development of formulae, selecting the right galenic forms and doses.

With regards to influenza in general and in particular avian ‘flu: preventative measures and treatment model: this aspect will be worked on in the form of group discussion.
